Are you doing the same monotonous routine day after day? When is the last time you changed your diet or fitness routine? It’s time to shake things up a bit and challenge yourself more in life.
Eating the same thing daily, weekly, or monthly is not as healthy as you’d think it is, even if you think you eat healthy. If you have kids, the same thing goes for them, I don’t care how picky the eater is. If you feed your kid macaroni and cheese every night and a peanut butter and jelly every day for lunch, they are definitely not getting enough fruit, vegetables and protein in their diet. Feeding kids the right food is a whole other topic I’d love to dive into, but for now I’ll stick to what applies to everyone. As the saying goes, “You are what you eat” and if you eat the same things all the time, that’s what you’ll “be”. They keys to a healthy diet are: balance, moderation, and variety. Those keys can also apply to life too.
Variety also applies to a fitness routine. Fitness routines need a good balance and variety of different exercises. If you’re doing the same exercises day after day without increasing the intensity or working on different muscle groups, over a long period of time you may not see the results you desire. If you challenge yourself and you increase weights, change the routine, run faster and push a little harder you are bound to see better results in a shorter amount of time.
You can also challenge yourself in life to not do the same things day in and day out. If you watch TV every day, yet you want to start a new hobby, challenge yourself to cut back on TV and start on that hobby. Do the hobby first before you watch TV (because TV can really suck people in). If you want to run a 5k, do an obstacle course, run a half marathon, or run a full marathon… start training!
How do you want to challenge yourself in life? Or are you content with not having a goal or some excitement in life?
A lot of people don’t like change, but how can one truly be better or improve in an area in life if they don’t challenge themselves first?
Start challenging yourself daily, whether it be a new routine, a lifestyle change, working a little harder to reach a goal, working out harder to improve your health and fitness level, or working to self-improve. Start with small goals and you’ll see that when you push yourself just a little more, you’ll be happy you did.
